High School Homecoming Dance - September 28
Homecoming tickets on sale during lunch starting September 23. They will be $12 through the 26th. Final day to buy a ticket is September 27th at lunch and will be $15. Guest forms are now available inthe main office for those that wish to bring a guest fromanother school. There is a limit to the number of guests allowed for 9th and 10th graders so get those completed asap! Those must be completed and turned into the office no later than 9/25. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Knight Time Classic - September 28
The Kenowa Hills Marching Knights will host the 37th Annual Knight Time Classic Band Competition, with bands around the state performing and competing for 1st Place! Happing at Knight Stadium on Saturday, September 28, beginning at 10:00 am. Tickets are $7 adults/$5 students/$25 per family.

KHEF Knights Run for Education - October 12
The KH Education Foundation is holding a 5K Run/Walk to raise money on Saturday, October 12 at Central Elementary. Proceeds benefit the KHEF to fund grants that empower teachers to implement creative projects and programs to enhance our students' learning experience.

Service Academy Night - October 15
Representative Hillary Scholten’s District Office is excited to invite our students to the upcoming Service Academy Night on October 15, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gerald R. Ford Museum. This event is a fantastic opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the military through one of the United States Service Academies.

Representatives from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy will be present to provide information, answer questions, and discuss the application process. This is an invaluable chance for students to learn more about these prestigious institutions and the opportunities they offer.

Now Accepting Service Academy Applications

Congresswoman Scholten is now accepting United States service academy nomination applications. We encourage high school students in our district (MI-03) to apply for these prestigious appointments.

Each year, members of Congress may nominate a limited number of candidates to the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. These nominations are highly competitive, and students must meet strict eligibility requirements to be considered.

The application process involves submitting materials such as academic transcripts, standardized test scores, letters of recommendation, and essay questions. The deadline to submit a completed application to our office is November 1, 2024. Please visit Congresswoman Scholten's website for more information on the process and to access the application packet. Please share this information with your students and their families and encourage those interested to attend the Service Academy Night to learn more. Reminders

• $30 Chromebook Protection Plan is due by Sept 13. Plans can be paid through efunds, which is preferable, or cash or check to the main office.
• Parents must update registration for all returning students. Go to ps2012.khps.org and log in to your parent portal and select “Returning student registration” If you need assistance logging in, please call the main office.
• All student vehicles must be registered and identified with a parking stickers. The registration forms and parking stickers should be purchased for $20 in the main office asap.
• Cell phones should not be used or visible during instructional time, including the hallways. Our goal is to limit the interruptions to your students during their valuable learning time. The entire cell phone policy can be found in our student handbook.
• Kenowa Hills High School is considered a closed campus. Students are not
  permitted to leave for lunch or receive outside food deliveries during the school day.
• There have been some changes to the dress code policy. Please see the student handbook section 3.1 for details.

Parking/Drop Off
Just a reminder that student drop-off and pick-up is on the north side of the parking lot. Parking lots are labeled. Please do not drop off or pick up in the bus loop.

Athletics - High Sports are back!!
You can view the KH Fall Athletic Schedules at kenowahillsathletics.com. All tickets are $5.00 each, students (age 5 and above) and adult. We offer online tickets through GoFan and will also have cash sales available. ONLY KH students get into home athletic events for free if wearing Kenowa Hills swag and/or theme night with a valid student ID! PreK-8th grade students must be accompanied by an adult. You are responsible for supervising your own children.

Attendance
The county-wide Strive for 5 is still our goal for every student. Students with excessive chargeable absences will not be allowed to attend dances and/or other extracurricular activities. Please refer to the Student handbook for more information as to which kind of absences count against them. Students over 5 minutes late to class other than their first hour are considered absent. The rest of our attendance policy can be found in our student handbook.

If your student is going to be absent, late, or needs to leave early, please call the attendance line at 616-784-2400 Ext. 2 or you can email at hsattendance@khps.org. Please call ahead if your student needs to leave early. It is important to have limited interruptions into the classroom. Please call in the morning and leave a message if needed, so a pass can be written. Students
may not leave class without permission from the office.

Food Service Changes
We are excited to share that KHPS will be participating in the MI School Meals Program and will be offering breakfast and lunch to all students at NO COST starting this fall. Although meals are free, we encourage all families to complete the Education Benefit Form found here. You may be entitled to additional benefits.
